Healthy Lucknow Campaign

*Continued from AYUSH for Public Health on Home Page-

Based on the experience of the last three decades, Jeevaniya Society initiated this campaign of AYUSH for Healthy Lucknow as a Pilot Study & Action Plan in a few colonies of Lucknow with active Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs)& some Schools which were willing to actively collaborate in the campaign. Regional CCRAS institute at Lucknow and the AYUSH Mission of UP, its Health Functionaries from the Hospitals, Dispensaries and HWCs of AYUSH in Lucknow, besides the Faculty and Residents of their colleges were also involved.

It helped Set up Herbal Gardens in their premises to be managed by the respective bodies and promoted the use of locally available medicinal plants in Primary Health Care. It had proposed to conduct Baseline Surveys of the of the selected populations on their Health status to organize AYUSH Health Camps for regular Health Awareness & Empowerment for Primary Health Care & monitor the impact of these interventions on the Beneficiary population. However, the same could not be continued due to Lockdown during covid where we distributed AYUSH Kwath and other services to the quarantined population of Lucknow. We also conducted several webinars and prepared IEC Material on the Management of Covid 19 to conduct Awareness Campaigns during this period.

Based on our experience of the last 30 years and during Covid we decided to launch Mission Arogyakar(MA), a Pilot program for self-reliance in Primary Health in 2021, largely in the Gram Panchsyats of 8 districts of UP. IEC material viz. Videos, Banners and Pamphlets on Healthy Life, based on authentic information from Indian Knowledge Systems of Health, including AYUSH & LHTs were usedto generate awareness amongst people. Use of locally available material as well as Manpower of AYUSH & LHTs was encouraged for self-reliance in the management of primary health problems in the rural areas. Support of requisite inputs of seeds and planting material has also been provided to set up Health Gardens (Sehat Bagichas) for hand holding the MA initiative.

MA has been initiated by grass-root organizations in Betul, MP, Jaitu, Punjab and Wardha &Yavatmal in Maharashtra.
